




Dashboard Announcement YAML Code
This is YAML code for use in Home Assistant to save you time. You can use it to play an announcement across Sonos and Alexa media players. For example, "Dinner is ready!" This includes the YAML code for the script, and two types of YAML code for adding it to your Home Assistant dashboard. One type is for the those using a Sections dashboard layout as shown in this video (Option 1), and the other type is for those using a UI Lovelace Minimalist dashboard layout as shown in this video (Option 2). See the images for what to expect.
The YAML code for the UI Lovelace Minimalist dashboard layout requires the HACS Custom Button Card.
INSTALL
After purchasing, follow these steps to use the YAML code in just 1 minute:
Create the Script
- In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Automations & scenes > Scripts > Add Script > Create New Script.
- Click the three dots in the upper right > select Edit in YAML > paste the Script YAML code in the zip file.
- Edit the entity names to match the actual names of your media_player entities.
- Click Save.
Create the Sections Dashboard Badge (Option 1)
- Go to Settings > Dashboards > Open the Sections dashboard you want to edit.
- Click the edit icon in the upper right > click to Add a Badge from the top row > choose Manual > paste the applicable YAML code from the zip file.
- Edit the entity name to match the actual name of your script entity.
- Click Save.
Create the UI Lovelace Minimalist Dashboard Card (Option 2)
- Open a file editor in Home Assistant, such as Studio Code Server.
- Go to the config file for the UI Lovelace Minimalist dashboard view where you want the card to appear.
- Paste the applicable YAML code from the zip file.
- Edit the entity name to match the actual name of your script entity.
